On Friday, the 4th of June, Dr. Desmond Kehinde Moru of the School of Science and Technology (SST), Pan-Atlantic University Lagos Nigeria, attended the doctoral investiture ceremony of the University of Navarra. Sixteen faculties and schools graced the seats of the Museum’s theater.
In an act chaired by the Rector Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, the new doctors of the University celebrated their investiture. For the first time, two academic sessions, those of 2019-20 and 2020-21, were held at the event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic which prevented the celebration last year.
Despite the circumstances, in these two academic years, 319 doctors from 26 countries: Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, Czech Republic, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United States, Honduras, India, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Uganda, and Venezuela, have defended their thesis.
In his speech, the Rector recognized the effort of all the new doctors for completing their studies in the middle of a pandemic. “You have been brave and tenacious. You have not heard the discouraging messages or the siren songs. You have completed your work in the most difficult conditions.” He also pointed out that the new doctors trained at the University of Navarra have taken over in a long-distance race: you are already the protagonists of an exciting adventure. You are the heirs of the men and women who decided to work for a world in which knowledge was at the service of all. Because that is the only engine that gives full meaning to research: its positive impact on the lives of many people.”
