Background: Engr. Abdulbasit Adewale Makinde is a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Science and Technology, Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently pursuing a PhD in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Lagos State University, Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunication Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. He also holds an Ordinary National Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State, Nigeria. He has seven years of teaching and research experience. His undergraduate project focused on the design and construction of an SMS-based e-voting system, while his master’s thesis examined optimal sensor connectivity in Wireless Sensor Networks using the Particle Swarm Optimisation algorithm.
Research interest: His research interests span the fields of Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Networks, Embedded Systems, and Wireless Communication, with an emphasis on the design and optimisation of intelligent and efficient engineering systems. He is particularly interested in applying computational optimisation techniques, including Particle Swarm Optimisation, Genetic Algorithms, and Ant Colony Optimisation, to challenges such as sensor placement, network connectivity, routing efficiency, and overall system performance. His work also engages with emerging artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches to develop adaptive, data-driven, and context-aware engineering solutions.
Teaching: Faculty leads courses in: Digital Logic Design; Introduction to AI, ML, and Convergent Technologies.
