Background
Engr. Dr. Anthony Ogochukwu Onokwai is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, Nigeria. His professional journey encompasses a diverse background, including two years as a Mechanical Technologist in the oil sector, four years as a Laboratory Technologist at the University level, and six years as a University lecturer. His academic qualifications include a PhD, M.Eng (with Distinction), B.Eng (First Class), and HND (Upper Credit) in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Thermofluids and Energy Systems. These degrees were earned from Landmark University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Kwara State University, and Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, respectively.
Engr. Dr. Onokwai registered Engineer with COREN and a member of professional bodies including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE), and Project Management Professional (PMP). He is a distinguished expert in Thermofluids and Energy Systems, with a specialization in renewable energy systems, sustainable development, and engineering design. His expertise spans energy analysis, modelling and optimisation of automated energy systems, all driven by a commitment to enhancing the performance of engineering systems for both industrial and domestic applications. Engr. Dr. Onokwai research work closely aligned with SDG7, advocating for clean and affordable energy, and SDG13, promoting climate action.
As an African professional, he is deeply committed to reducing carbon emissions and addressing the renewable energy challenges confronting the continent. His extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary research projects and mentoring young researchers. His contributions to renewable energy production and energy efficiency have garnered wide recognition, with numerous publications in high-impact journals (with over 50 indexed in Scopus) and invitations to speak at national and international conferences and workshops.
He currently serves as a Research Fellow in the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, at Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa. Additionally, He is an active member of the Technical Committee of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), specifically SON-ME/TC 14 (Domestic and Industrial Bioenergy/Biogas Systems, Appliances, and Equipment) and SON-ME/TC 8 (Tricycles, Motorcycles, Bicycles, Mopeds, and Components).
