The School of Management and Social Sciences (SMSS) on 7th June held a memorable induction ceremony for its final year students, celebrating their academic journey and officially ushering them into professional life. Moderated by Dr. Stanley Nwanni, the event was filled with inspiring speeches, reflection, and encouragement as the students prepared to take the next step in their careers.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Friday Anetor, Head of Department, congratulated the students on the years they had spent developing strong analytical skills. He urged them to take full advantage of networking and mentorship opportunities ahead and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. He wished the graduates every success in their future endeavours.

Delivering a powerful keynote address, Dr. Baba Yusuf Musa described the ceremony as a significant rite of passage. He reflected on the students’ growth from the day they first walked into the university to the accomplished individuals they had become. “You are not merely graduates,” he told them. “You are the embodiment of a vision: that competent professionals who are also men and women of integrity can, and will, change the world. As you step out today, carry this conviction with you: your education is not a personal trophy. It is a tool; a tool for transformation. Serve with dedication, love and excellence.”
Prof. Oluwashola Oni, Dean of SMSS, also addressed the gathering. She encouraged the students to continue thriving in all their future endeavours and to build upon the solid foundation they had received.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Kingsley Ukaoha on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Enase Okonedo, congratulated the final-year students on this important milestone. He noted that the induction ceremony lies at the heart of the university’s mission, as the training provided to students directly mirrors the needs of society. He informed the students that NES, as a professional body, provides them with platforms for continuous growth and development. He also thanked the faculty for their dedication to grooming the next generation of leaders.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from a student, Zaron, who spoke on behalf of the graduating class, reflecting on their journey and expressing gratitude to the faculty, mentors, and fellow students.
The event was widely regarded as a great success, reinforcing the university’s commitment to producing not only skilled professionals but also individuals of integrity ready to make meaningful contributions to society.
