Background:

Professor Uchenna Uzo is a preeminent retail expert, distinguished speaker, and award-winning author with a career dedicated to revolutionising Africa’s retail and marketing arenas.

Over the past twenty years at Lagos Business School, Uchenna has profoundly impacted the institution in multiple capacities, including as Director of MBA Programmes, where he played a pivotal role in elevating the school to be ranked among the top 40 Executive MBA programmes globally by the Economist.

Professor Uzo’s passion for elevating Africa’s retail sector into a competitive global force shines through his extensive consulting and research across multiple industries, where he consistently advances excellence in Sales, Retail, Marketing, and Consumer Behaviour.

His academic journey includes a BSc and MSc in Sociology from the University of Lagos, a Master of Research in Management, and a PhD in Management from IESE Business School in Barcelona. His prestigious

roles include a Research Fellowship at the Scandinavian Consortium for Organizational Research (SCANCOR) and a visiting research scholarship at Stanford University.

A fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and the Academic Director of the Africa Retail Academy, Uchenna is recognised for his exceptional teaching and has received numerous awards. He has authored several books, including Africa’s Goldmine: A Guide to Winning Customers in its Unstructured Markets. His articles have been featured in top journals, and he plays an influential role on several company boards, including the Management Board of Lagos Business School.

Qualification

BSc and MSc in Sociology from the University of Lagos, a Master of Research in Management, and a PhD in Management from IESE Business School in Barcelona.
