Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) hosted its 24th Inaugural Lecture, featuring Professor Olamitunji Dakare of the School of Management and Social Sciences (SMSS), on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Honeywell Group Auditorium, Lagos Business School, Lekki Campus, Lagos.
The lecture, titled “Informal Strategy Approaches: A Bone, not a Skin, in Nigerian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs),” examined how informal strategy practices shape the resilience and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises across Nigeria. Professor Dakare’s scholarship is centred on strategic management.
Speaking at the lecture, Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University, Professor Enase Okonedo, introduced Professor Dakare as “a professor of Entrepreneurship and Head of the Department of Business Administration at the School of Management and Social Sciences, who has contributed immensely to the academic community since joining Pan-Atlantic University.”
Speaking on the background to the lecture, Professor Dakare said: “The background of this lecture is the deliberate effort and intervention by the government, academic motivation through scholarly research, and the significance of small beginnings.”
On the central argument of the lecture, he stated: “Informal strategy approaches are not a sign of managerial weakness or lack of sophistication. Instead, they are proactive responses to contextual realities.”
The lecture was attended by members of the University community, distinguished guests, academics, policymakers, and business leaders.
