Empowering Futures: Celebrating International Women’s Day at Pan-Atlantic University

International Women’s Day is a time to celebrate the incredible achievements of women, to reflect on progress made, and to continue the fight for gender equality. This year, at Pan-Atlantic University, we marked this important day with an event that truly embodied the spirit of empowerment, focusing on the critical themes of Career Growth & Financial Independence.

We were incredibly fortunate to host an extraordinary panel of experts who shared their wisdom and experiences, leaving our community inspired and motivated. The panel, comprised of the remarkable Oluwatosin Olaseinde, Sandra Iyoha, and our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Enase Okonedo, Bimbo Ige, and Ijeoma Onah, delivered invaluable insights that resonated deeply with our students and faculty.

These women, each leaders in their respective fields, brought a wealth of knowledge and practical advice to the table. They tackled topics ranging from navigating career challenges and seizing opportunities, to building financial literacy and securing one’s financial future. Their diverse perspectives and real-life examples offered a powerful roadmap for our community, particularly for our female students who are poised to become the next generation of leaders.

The energy in the room was palpable as our panelists shared their journeys, highlighting the importance of resilience, mentorship, and continuous learning. They emphasised the need for women to take control of their financial destinies, to invest in themselves, and to break down barriers that hinder their progress.

Our Vice-Chancellor’s inspiring words on volunteering and professional excellence, coupled with her journey to becoming the first female Dean at Lagos Business School despite facing barriers, left a lasting impression.

The event served as a powerful reminder that empowering women is not just a moral imperative, but also a catalyst for progress and prosperity. When women are given the tools and opportunities to thrive, everyone benefits.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Oluwatosin Olaseinde, Sandra Iyoha, Porfessor Enase Okonedo, Bimbo Ige, and Ijeoma Onah for their generosity in sharing their time and expertise. Their insights will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our community.

Let’s continue to champion gender equality and empower women to reach their full potential. Happy International Women’s Day!
