Small Actions, Big Impact: PAU Leads the Way in Waste Awareness and Sustainability

“A cleaner campus begins with one conscious choice.”

The Living Green Club has turned a simple idea into a campus wide movement What started as a weekend cleanup has evolved into a week-long Campus Waste Bin Awareness Campaign, culminating in the exciting Green Sweep event. With the theme “Sort it right, say yes to waste segregation!”, the initiative aims to promote proper waste disposal practices among students, staff, and visitors.

“This initiative aligns perfectly with Pan-Atlantic University’s Sustainability Goals. Proper waste segregation is not just about disposal it is about shaping habits that protect our environment for generations to come,” says Club President, Ibukunoluwa Afolabi.

Key activities include:

  • Educational Outreach: Informative emails, social media posts, and practical guides on how to sort waste correctly using colour coded bins.
  • Interactive Awareness: Pop-up stations across high traffic areas provided hands-on learning about recycling and proper disposal.
  • Green Sweep Event: A campus wide cleanup brought together students and staff in action, featuring a lively musical performance to celebrate sustainability.
  • Sustainability Talks: Student leaders shared insights on environmental stewardship, inspiring attendees to make conscious choices every day.
  • Daily sustainability tips via digital screens.

Pan-Atlantic University remains committed to environmental sustainability and applauds the Living Green Club for their student led efforts, showing that even small actions like proper waste sorting can have a big impact on our campus and beyond
